To build a sheltie you need...

How to Build a Sheltie

A sparkle in the spirit,
tail awag with jubilation,
a happy bark to greet me
and a sudden silly circle,
constitute the framework
on which a sheltie's built.

Little feet so busy,
chasing 'way the squirrels;
ears alert to noises,
fierce barks alarm the world;
intruders may be out there
but undetected not,
a sheltie has a job to do,
this must not be forgot.

Eager to do my bidding,
companion to my mood,
a warm and furry snuggle,
a walk you say, let's go!
They manage to communicate
a very special love,
a sheltie's place is by me;
together we share this life.

The final look is varied
it might be large or small
the choice of parts is many
ears, eyes and nose and neck
whichever pieces chosen
matters not at all
for under that exterior
a SHELTIE can be found.

Thanks to the members of the sheltie list for these great posts! The poem came from Carolyn Rankin
