Dog is afraid of the noise

There are a number of things you can do to desensitize your dog to noise. Try taking him to PetSmart. The fork lift, particularly when the reverse "beeping" noise is activated can be quite frightening. Give the driver food to offer to him and over time, he will hopefully decide that the noisy monster isn't so bad after all.

Perhaps attending a softball game where there are lots of people noises will get him accustomed to that type of commotion. Keeping the dog busy helps. Have him working during the commotion, doing a simple sit or down, helps to keep the dog's mind off of it.

Add a boom box to your training area and increase the noise level gradually. Encourage folks to cheer and clap during practice. (Katie Greer)
