Canine Palm Page
Welcome to the first Palm Page specifically for dog lovers! Here you will find files specifically for use on Palm OS devices for various canine-related activities, plus lots of tips and hints on other ways to use your Palm. We also have an email list specifically for Pilot-Canine fans, you can subscribe at Onelist.
For any of the files on this page, be sure to RIGHT-CLICK on the link and chose "Save Link As" to save the file to your system. If this still doesn't work, you can download a zip file that contains all the pdb files on this page. You will need a program that unzips to use this.
Be sure to visit my page of Favorite Palm Applications for more information on the programs mentioned here.
GENERAL CANINE FILES AND TIPS
- DataDog
This is a complete record-keeping system for canine information and sports for the Palm. It basically replaces all the databases and files in the sections below on this page, and I will thus no longer be updating those files. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!
- DateBk3 Icons
Here are some canine-related icons to use in DateBk3 (I use the dog for agility):
Flyball=3c5291e187894a3c
Walk Dog=0606020F93E27555
Dog=20e0e13e3e226600
Veterinary=c0aac4aa00190e0a
Freestyle=0C0E0B090878F870
Obedience=0060E0F0180F0706
Herding=20E0FE7F7F7F3E14
Agility=080C183EF064444E
FlyBall=000323070f1f3f7f
Here's a couple from Megan O'Shaughnessy:
DVM=00CAAAC4006C5444
Flea=0000FFFDFF54AA00
To use any of these, just go into your Memopad, and look for the file DATEBK3
(you should have installed this when you installed DateBk3; if not, go back and
install it!) Just choose the icon you wish to replace, and replace the name and
code string with the above strings.
- Dog Equipment and Supplies Catalogs
This file for DOC has a list of 800-numbers for all the common dog supply stores.
- AKC Show Rules and Regulations
These are the general rules that apply to all AKC shows, unless otherwise indicated
by the specific event rules. Now with bookmarks.
- Harmony Kingdom Database for HanDBase
Updated 10-26-99
Harmony Kingdom is a line of collectibles that are very popular with animal lovers. Here's my database for information on tracking on your pieces. Just unzip and install both tables. The HK Pieces table is the top-level table, the other one should not be accessed directly, and can even be put in another category (I make a Linked category for all my linked tables). View Screenshots.
- Dog Info Database
This is a database for HanDBase for storing information on your dogs, such as
date of birth, sire, dam, and registration numbers. View Screenshot.
- Canine Acronyms Database
This database is not yet complete, I'm hoping maybe someone else will have time to finish it! View Screenshot.
- Re-Do is great for scheduling recurring monthly and yearly events like heartworm
medication, shots, etc. A floating event in DateBk3 is another good way to do
this.
AGILITY
- Agility Record Book for JFile
Now you can keep track of your legs and titles on your Pilot, too! Check off each title as it is completed, and record the date each leg is earned (and points where appropriate). The demo of JFile allows you to use 2 databases free of charge, so you can use this without paying anything (although I think you'll like JFile enough to buy it). If you have multiple dogs, just make copies of the files, and rename each one.
- Agility Record Book for HanDBase
Updated 2-16-99
If the JFile record book is just too bare-bones for you, here's the one you need! This uses the extra functionality in HanDBase to give you complete record book capabilities. Be sure to read the included text file for full instructions. This is a zipped file. View Screenshots.
- MACH Points tracker for PiMC
The new Agility Championship title requires a fairly complex tracking of points. This little spreadsheet will do it automatically for you! You can see at a glance how many Double Q's the dog has earned as well. Record the date, Standard leg or Jumpers leg, SCT, Dog's Time, and placement, and the spreadsheet will do the rest! Since I've had continuing problems keeping this file up-to-date, you can also download the Excel spreadsheet itself, and import it into whatever spreadsheet version you are using. View Screenshot.
- AKC Agility Regulations
Updated 2-16-99
Latest version of the agility regs. Fully bookmarked to make it easy to find specific topics.
- AKC Agility Regulation Changes
Outlines all the latest changes to the regs, including the MACH.
- Jump Heights
A database for HanDBase that lists the jump heights for most organizations. View Screenshot.
- Top Ten Points
Another HanDBase file, this one gives the point schedule for USDAA Top Ten rankings. View Screenshot.
FLYBALL
- The clock listed on my Palm apps page has the best Stopwatch to use for Flyball. You can use the buttons on the Palm to control the watch, it does lap times, etc.
- For a neat starting light, try the TaleLight. This is a small, red LED light that attaches to the serial port. You can get free software from the homepage that lets you use the light as a metronome...set it for 60 beats per minute, and you have the perfect start light! Be sure to ask for the Sportster model, I had problems with the other type of TaleLight.
- Flyball points tracker for PiMC
Here's a spreadsheet to keep track of team times and the individual dog's points the day of the race. At the top of the sheet, fill in the dog's names for each number, the same as they are listed on the flyball score sheet. Then, for each race, enter the dog's numbers that raced (they can be in any order). Enter the time for the run, the sheet will do the rest! Please note that due to a large number of calculations, this sheet is set to NOT auto-calculate. Click on the check-box in the lower righthand corner to calculate; it will take about a minute to run. If you wish to have faster calculations, just delete about half of the rows at the bottom. You can create a copy of the sheet using the menu selection for "New Copy". Due to problems keeping this up-to-date with changes in PiMC, I'm also providing the original Excel spreadsheet, just import it into the spreadsheet you are using. View Screenshot.
- NAFA Rules
Partial NAFA Rules in DOC format.
OBEDIENCE
HERDING
- AKC Herding Regulations
Updated 2-16-99
The AKC Herding Rules and Regulations in DOC format. Complete with bookmarks.
